Children's Picture Books: Exploring the Self-Publishing Journey
The Miura Ori folded-vase construction is simply joyful for those who love working with paper. Participants will be introduced to basic paper pleating concepts, then apply this knowledge to create a beautiful three-dimensional vessel that can be purely artful or elegantly practical. A basic PDF template, which can be endlessly altered to create vases of varying height and circumference, will be emailed to each participant. Additionally, paper decorating techniques and appropriate papers choices will be discussed. All participants will be sent some papers to try out during our session (so we will need your mailing address as well as your email address).
Advance registration is required for all JCBA workshops. For more details or to register, email JCBA Director John Cutrone at jcutrone@fau.edu. John will send you an email explaining how to pay your tuition online. It's a simple process. Class limit: 16.
This workshop has a set tuition of $100.
• Computer or tablet with Internet connection.
• Scissors.
• PVA and applicator (brush or squeeze bottle) or Bearly Craft Glue.
• Straight edge metal rulers: it's handy to have both a 12" straight edge and a smaller one.
• Glue stick.
• Scoring tool: A ballpoint pen, with or without ink, will work well as a scoring tool for class.
• A soft surface to press into while scoring. A generous pile of newsprint or a seed catalogue will work well. This is very important to have, so don’t overlook this supply!
• The packet of paper that the instructor will mail to you.
